This page is an informational link for PhD students at LCC.

For any questions concerning PhD students and matters related to degree progression, contact Eva Broer (e.broer@arts.ac.uk). Eva is also at LCC every Tuesday afternoon (WG14c) to answer any PhD-related queries.

PhD Space

There are two designated spaces at LCC for PhD students to work and/or have tutorials. These are in W219 and W222 on the 2nd Floor of the Workshop block. The rooms have lockers and are equipped with MAC computers and the most up to date creative software.

Student Support Fund

This fund is for PhD students who wish to claim for research-related activities such as conferences, workshops or field work. The maximum amount of funding available for each student is £500, although higher amounts can be granted under special circumstances. If you are successful in being awarded the funds, you are expected to write a few short paragraphs to indicate how you have utilized the money and how it contributes to your research. How to Apply

1.   Read the SSF: Frequently Asked Questions

2.   Discuss your application with your Director of Studies

3.   Complete Section 1 page 1 of the 2013-14-SSF-Application-Form‌ (Word, 804KB)

  • You must answer all questions on page 1
  • You must gain quotes from retailers for your Breakdown of Amount in section 1.10 do not submit estimations.
  • Applications exceeding 2 pages will not be accepted.

4.   Email your SSF application to your Director of Studies requesting that they:

  • Support your application by completing page 2 section 2 of your application
  • Electronically sign the application
  • Return this to you by email

5.   When your Director of Studies returns this, check that section 2 is complete.

6.   Email the document to the Chair of your College Research Degree Sub Committee (CCRDSC) requesting that they consider your application for approval.

  • Approve/Deny or suggest an alternative funding amount
  • Electronically sign your application
  • Email the signed document back to you if it is supported
